Versatile Sergio Ramos has emerged as one of Spain's top defenders in recent seasons, being equally adept at either centre-half or right-back, as well as having an eye for goal. He began his club career with Sevilla, before heading to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2005 to join Real Madrid, where he has quickly become a first-team fixture. Ramos made his international debut in a 3-0 friendly victory over China in March 2005 and has gone on to make more than 30 appearances for his country, having been a first-choice since the World Cup finals in Germany two years ago.
