Valencia frontman David Villa has become a key figure for his country in recent times, netting seven goals in qualifying as Spain secured a place at this summer's finals. A small, pacy striker, Villa has belied his stature to show that he is able to feature as a lone frontman, as well as part of a pairing with Fernando Torres. The 26-year-old started his career with Sporting Gijon and enjoyed further success with Real Zaragoza before heading to the Mestalla in the summer of 2005. Scored three times at the World Cup finals in Germany in 2006 and is expected to attract attention from a number of Europe's big guns if he impresses again.
