The Dinamo Moscow midfielder has had a topsy-turvy career, taking a few years to show his potential. The 29-year-old midfielder graduated from the CSKA Moscow's academy, but failed to establish a regular position for the club, making only 10 appearances, before moving to Torpedo Moscow in 1998. After a controversial start with his new club, including a five-match suspension for kicking a referee, Semshov established himself as an influential figure in Torpedo Moscow's side, winning the club's player of the year four times between 2001-2005. He made his international debut in 2002 and played in the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. Semshov has become a regular international under Guus Hiddink and made nine appearances for Russia during their successful qualifying campaign for Euro 2008.
