The CSKA Moscow defender began his professional career in 1999 at Torpedo-Zil and has a twin brother, Vasili, who is also a CSKA defender. Berezutski is a versatile footballer, who can play as fullback, wingback and defensive midfield, as well as his preferred position of centre back. An ever-present at CSKA Moscow since 2001, Berezutski has more than 140 appearances with the Russian Premier League side and played a vital role in winning the UEFA Cup with the 'Army Men' in 2005. He played in all of Russia's 11 qualifiers for Euro 2008 and played a major part in their 2-1 victory against England in October 2007, setting up the second goal.
