The 30-year-old midfielder has spent the last four seasons with Barcelona, making more than 100 appearances for the Spanish giants. Having been born in Brazil he was something of a controversial call-up to the national side by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2003 but Deco's performances on the pitch soon silenced any doubters. He was part of the all-conquering FC Porto side that dominated domestically and overseas before moving to the Camp Nou in 2004. Deco endured a difficult World Cup two years ago, being sent off in the second round clash against the Netherlands.
