Manuel Sampaio Silva, also known as Quim, has been an integral part of the Benfica side for the last four seasons following his transfer from Braga in 2004. On the international stage, the 32-year-old made his debut in 1999 and was the third-choice keeper at Euro 2000. He looked set to take the number one jersey for the World Cup in Japan and South Korea only to lose his place at the last minute to Ricardo. He was in the squads at Euro 2004 and in Germany two years ago but failed to make an appearance at either tournament.
