The 59-year-old Brazilian has been in charge of Portugal since 2003, guiding them to the Euro 2004 Final and last four of the World Cup two year later. At club level he coached a host of sides including Gremio, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro before taking over the Brazil national side in 2001. Despite guiding the team to success in the 2002 World Cup, he resigned soon after the end of the tournament before taking up an offer to coach the Portugal team. Before the 2006 World Cup Finals in Germany, Scolari was linked with the England manager's job before eventually deciding to remain with Portugal and signing a new two-year contract at the end of the tournament. He has intimated that he will bring his time with the Portugal national side to an end when Euro 2008 finishes.
