The 27-year-old defender has spent the last three seasons with Valencia after moving to the Mestalla following a falling out with the management at Benfica in the summer of 2005. Miguel can play as a central defender or on the right side of defence and his versatility was crucial to Portugal's run to the Euro 2004 Final and last four of the World Cup two years later. A quick and committed defender, he made his international debut against Italy in 2003.
