Widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, the 23-year-old Manchester United star was recently voted the Premier League's player of the season for a second successive year. Ronaldo started his career with Sporting Lisbon and, after starring in the UEFA Under-17 Championships, alerted the attention of United boss Sir Alex Ferguson who snapped him up five years ago in a 12.24million deal. He made his first-team debut against Bolton in August 2003 and has gone on to star in almost 250 games for the club. Ronaldo featured in Euro 2004 and the World Cup finals in Germany two years later, playing a key role in his country's run to the Final in the former and last four of the latter competition.
