By far the most attacking and versatile player in the Italian back line, Zambrotta has been an international regular for over eight years, making almost 75 appearances for his country. His pace and ability on the ball allows Italy to use three central midfielders behind the attacking line, safe in the knowledge that Zambrotta will provide width on one of the two flanks. A starting spot is almost guaranteed for the 31-year-old, although he will have to wait and see whether Roberto Donadoni picks Massimo Oddo at right-back or Fabio Grosso on the left - Zambrotta will then occupy whichever full-back spot is vacant. A disappointing season at Barcelona, where they were again forced behind rivals Real Madrid in La Liga, will need to be left behind by the former Juventus man.
