Striker Ioannis Amanatidis was a regular during Greece's qualification campaign for this summer's finals, often being asked to play in a withdrawn role on the right side of midfield by coach Otto Rehhagel. The 26-year-old has played all of his club football in Germany, his family having moved from Greece when he was a youngster. Currently plays for Eintracht Frankfurt, having earlier enjoyed spells with VfB Stuttgart, Greuther Furth and Kaiserslautern. Made his national team debut in late 2002, but has struggled to become a regular, although he did start six of the 12 games in qualify
