The undoubted hero of Euro 2004 glory, Angelos Charisteas has since struggled to live up to the billing he was given in Portugal. The 28-year-old left-footed striker emerged as a major star, netting the winner against France in the quarter-finals and then repeating the trick in the final against Portugal. However, Charisteas has since had spells with Werder Bremen, Ajax and Feyenoord, before returning to Germany last summer to join Nurnberg. At his best, he is able to operate effectively as a lone target man, holding the ball up well and bringing other players into the game and has nearly 20 international goals to his name.
