Vieira has been a mainstay of the France side since making his international debut more than 11 years ago against Holland. He came on as a substitute when France beat Brazil in the 1998 World Cup Final but was a key member of the team when they won Euro 2000. The Senegal-born midfielder played for Cannes and AC Milan before making his name during an outstanding nine-year spell at Arsenal. He left Highbury for Juventus in July 2005 for 13.7million, but left the Turin giants after one season when Juventus were relegated to Serie B for match-fixing. In August 2006, Vieira signed for Internazionale in a deal reported to be worth more than nine million euros, winning the Serie A title in his first season.
