The Manchester United defender started his career as a striker with Paris St Germain's youth system before moving to Italy where he played in the same position for Marsala and Monza. It wasn't till the 27-year-old moved back to France with Nice in 2000 that he was utilised as a left-back and his impressive displays in defence led to a move to Monaco in 2002. He played a vital part in Didier Deschamps' side that reached the Champions league Final in 2004, earning a call-up to the national side. However, he has failed to establish himself as an international regular and played once in the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign. Evra signed for the Red Devils in January 2006 and helped them win the Champions League in 2008 and two consecutive league titles.
