Bafetimbi Gomis' excellent goal-scoring form for St-Etienne over the past two seasons, including an impressive 16 goals in 34 appearances during the 2007-08 campaign, caught the eye of French coach Raymond Domenech and the 22-year-old was a surprise addition to France's provisional Euro 2008 squad ahead of experienced striker David Trezeguet. He proved his worth by coming off the bench on his international debut against Ecuador on May 27 2008 to score the only two goals of the game. He might have only just earned his first international cap, but the youngster has enough potential to become the latest star of French football and run defenders ragged in Euro 2008.
