Promising striker who has opted to represent Austria despite being born in Germany. The 20-year-old chose the country of his father's birth at an early age and he has progressed through the Austrian ranks from Under-19 to full international. Harnik has never played club football in his adopted nation as he remains with Werder Bremen where he began his career. The speedy frontman has broken into the first team at the Bundesliga side this season and made three substitute appearances in the Champions League against the likes of Real Madrid and Lazio. He made his full international debut in 2007 but is likely to be restricted to substitute appearances during Euro 2008.
