Experienced coach who is in his second spell at the helm of the national side. Hickersberger initially led Austria in the early 1990s but stepped down after they suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Faroe Islands during qualifying for Euro 92. However, after a return to club management with Dusseldorf and Austria Vienna, he embarked on a successful stint in the Middle East which culminated with a spell in charge of the Bahrain national team. The now 60-year-old then returned to Rapid and took his team into the latter stages of the Champions League before being persuaded to retake the reins of the national side in January 2006.
