Donadoni proud of Azzurri

Coach Roberto Donadoni was full of pride in his players, despite Italy being knocked out of Euro 2008 by a penalty shootout defeat to Spain in the quarter-finals.
Daniele De Rossi and Antonio Di Natale both missed from the spot as Spain won through 4-2 in the shootout, after the clash in Vienna had ended goalless after extra-time.
However, Donadoni felt that his squad had given their all in their bid to become European champions.
He commented: "The players gave it their all, they gave it their best. I'm proud of their efforts and of the football they produced.
"They didn't have a drop of energy left. I am very sorry, very sad for them because they didn't go through. I'm proud, though, the result doesn't matter.
"I feel sorry for the lads, after fighting so bravely. I told the lads they should keep their heads up.
"They should be proud of their performance and of what they have achieved, they gave their best and should learn from this experience."
