Dutch strength delights coach

Netherlands coach Marco van Basten praised the strength of his squad after a much-changed side secured a 2-0 win over Romania to end the group stage with a 100 per cent record.
The Dutch had already qualified for the quarter-finals as Group C winners ahead of their final game and van Basten made nine changes to the line-up that started the 4-1 rout of France last week.
However, despite the change in personnel the result was the same as second-half strikes from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Robin van Persie earned the Oranje their third win of the tournament.
Van Basten's side had been expected to struggle after being drawn in a difficult group alongside reigning world champions Italy and much-fancied France.
"It is great for us because we played well once again," he said.
"We have had three excellent matches with different players. I'm very pleased with the whole squad.
"We started poorly - maybe because the pitch was a little bit wet - but after a difficult 25 minutes we came into the game, played better and better and created a lot of chances.
"We have got to be very proud and happy that we have won three games.
"In the beginning it was the 'Group of Death', so nine points and nine goals - we can be very happy about that."
